Miami / South Florida
Southeast US
Best first stop for education, applied finance, and community hosting.
- Miami Dade College Qiskit Fall Fest history

After you know your interest
Working on projects is the real next step — Fall Fest, Summer School, hackathons, the IBM developer cert, and the Advocate program. Geography comes after the pathway, not before.
Availability is not “every city has a QPU.” It is people, a Classroom Account, and a community that already runs events.
Southeast US
Best first stop for education, applied finance, and community hosting.
Tennessee
Best for working professionals who will take quantum back into an existing company.
Mid-Atlantic + global virtual
Best for educators, policy, and stacked credentials after this month.
Anywhere with a Classroom or Open Plan account
Hardware access is not geography-limited. Use it for week 2–4 labs.
Example: ‘Portfolio analyst exploring quantum optimization | IBM Business Foundations | Qiskit’ or ‘Software engineer | Qiskit v2 | seeking quantum SDK roles’.
Learning plan, qubit card, use-case memo, capstone brief with baseline table, GitHub repo from a hackathon or Fall Fest.
IBM Quantum, Qiskit, WISER, Chattanooga Quantum Collaborative, Q-CTRL, IQM — then comment with substance, not emoji-only.
Once you know the role family, message people in that family in your region. Attach the one-pager, not a cold ‘any jobs?’
Summer school
Annual (2026 ran 13–24 July; watch IBM Quantum blog for the next cohort) · Virtual, global
Students, researchers, developers — beginner track available
Festival
October–November each year (2026 host cycle: events Oct–Nov) · Local campuses and communities worldwide — attend or host
Students, educators, community leads. QGG workshop notebooks (Colab + IBMid) live in QuantumKev/qiskitFallFest.
Hackathon
Rolling — IBM Quantum Developer Conference, regional challenges · Virtual + regional
Builders who need a public project on GitHub
Credential
On demand via Pearson VUE after the assessment exam · Online / test center
Software and algorithms pathways; required to advance past Advocate Tier 0
Community
Applications year-round, reviewed monthly · Global (Discord + events)
Need Basics of Quantum Information, Fundamentals of Quantum Algorithms, QGSS Excellence badge, or C1000-179
Classroom
Educator application; 365-day instance, 10 min QPU / 28 days per student · IBM Quantum Platform — no student credit card
This cohort: QGG holds Classroom approval to provision hardware access
Credential
Self-paced (~2–3 hours) + IBM Training exam · IBM Quantum Learning
Week 3 of this month — all pathways
Classroom
Self-paced puzzles; coding track uses Qiskit · https://enigmesquantiques.com/en/
Week 2–3 practice; education and software pathways especially
Classroom
Self-paced; free intro then Pro / educator cohort · https://q-ctrl.com/black-opal
Interactive fundamentals (superposition, qubits, entanglement, circuits, noise, programming)
Sit the assessment, then Pearson VUE for Qiskit v2.X developer certification. That cert is the hard gate past Advocate Tier 0. Apply year-round: Advocate program. This cohort uses an approved IBM Quantum Classroom Account so you can run on hardware without a student credit card.
